Stefano Lupicano (AKA Lys) was born in Naples on 1985. After high school he moved to Venice where he studied Accademia of Fine Arts. It matures and develops experiences propensity towards theater, stage lights and classical music. As a visual artist, he has already exhibited at trade fairs, group and solo exhibitions.

Smart Art is the term coined by Lys to define his language: a seemingly common technique within everyone's reach, created with a simple smartphone, capable of combining high and low, "soft" technology and multi-layered references, through which the artist creates his classic-pop paintings, icons of the post-contemporary at once glamorous and disorienting, captivating and desecrating.
The artist's favourite subject is fashion, with its myths and universal appeal. Brands, patterns and logos of contemporary stylists contaminate the mutant surface of paintings with a classical cut and atmosphere, with more than one wink to the exotic myth of 19th-century Orientalism, ranging from the 18th century to the early 20th century, in a back-and-forth game between classical iconography and new pop figuration. Thus, in Lys's figurative universe, the reshaped antiquity of classical painting, contemporary logos and brands, and at times references to other languages and contemporary iconographies such as cartoons, graffiti or tattoos play on the same level. Lys forces us to reflect on our tendency to subject ourselves daily to the ritual of the advertising lure of the logo and the fashionable brand everywhere.
